For this year’s edition of Art Düsseldorf, Elektrohalle Rhomberg is thrilled to present a compelling dialogue in contemporary painting and sculpture, featuring works by Arang Choi (*1992 born in Seoul, KOR), Adelheid Rumetshofer (*1976 in Freistadt, AT) and David Roth (*1985 in Oberpullendorf, AT).

Arang Choi confronts viewers with the concept of an all-souled world. Her surreal paintings are populated by a recurring, anthropomorphic creature that constantly deforms and adheres to no fixed formula. This mystical mythical being evokes a profound sense of familiarity in the viewer, serving as a universal reference to the unity of all existence.

David Roth’s Flower Paintings series uses flower bouquets as unconventional painting tools, producing dense, gestural, and organically textured abstractions. The works emphasize physical process, material experimentation, and the transformation of everyday natural objects into expressive painterly instruments. Within his broader oeuvre, the series reflects Roth’s ongoing interest in chance, performative gesture, and the boundaries of abstraction.

In stark contrast, Adelheid Rumetshofer's practice is a study in atmosphere and abstraction. Her ethereal works dissolve form into fields of soft color and light, inviting a quiet, meditative contemplation. The pieces are a testament to the power of suggestion and the nuance of surface.

Together, these artists' presentations create a multifaceted look at the possibilities of painting today, showcasing a range from the hyper-specific and narrative to the purely abstract and emotive.
