For this year's edition of Spark Art Fair Vienna, Elektrohalle Rhomberg is happy to present brand new paintings from various bodies of work by Viennese artist Max Freund.

Within Max Freund's practice, the exploration of time as an inescapable constant is enriched using diverse artistic approaches and materials, facilitating a layered investigation. By exploring a variety of sources from pop cultural phenomena, sub cultural niches, and art historical links, the artist integrates cross-cultural sign and image systems that modulate the hieroglyphics of our contemporary age. Freund continually collects various (visual) materials, from digital image archives and books found at the flea market to record covers and fabrics from all around the world assembled during his travels.

The resulting amalgam of traces merges individual and universal ideas and offer a

kaleidoscopic analysis of our current visual culture entwined with social uncertainties.
