Nur nicht nach Haus
28 March – 16 May 2026
Elektrohalle is pleased to present the second solo exhibition by Tammy Langhinrichs (b. 1995, Hamburg), a 2023 MFA graduate of Andreas Slominski at HFBK Hamburg. Following her swift recognition at Art Düsseldorf and inclusion in the Salzburg Museum’s permanent collection, Langhinrichs returns with a body of new works specifically conceived for this occasion.
Under the title Nur nicht nach Haus - referencing an album by her father’s former band project, Johnny Liebling - the artist explores textile as a material of vast historical and social coding. Her fabric-covered stretcher frames act as "dressed" image-carriers, situating themselves between collage and assemblage. Langhinrichs humorously updates avant-garde painting traditions; where Lucio Fontana once slashed canvases with solemnity, she simply buttons them up or introduces stylized, harmless bullet holes.
Centering on a "tale of bandits," the exhibition features sympathetic outsiders and distorted balaclavas that shift from symbols of threat into playful, comic motifs. By focusing on the fundamental structure of clothing - as a series of openings designed for the body - Langhinrichs frames these vestimentary vehicles not as mere coverings, but as essential conditions for identity, intimacy, and shelter.
